Evaluating Confidence in Analytical Measurement Part (d): Studies of uncertainty in laboratory operations
This report describes the experiments undertaken to evaluate the uncertainties associated with a number of chromatographic parameters. Two studies deal with parameters such as the detector wavelength, column temperature and mobile phase flow-rate. Various approaches to uncertainty calculation were compared, Kragten’s spreadsheet, symmetric spreadsheet and numerical differentiation. Changes in peak resolution in fatty acid quantification were also studied., and a summary of uncertainties associated with weighing and volumetric operations is included.
