Legal Aspects of Chemical Measurement - Emerging Findings

Date: 30/04/1999 Ref No: LGC/VAM/1999/010 Type: Report
Author(s): Pitts J
Organisation/Publisher: LGC

The main aim of this project is to explore issues and possible approaches to improving the reliability, comparability and acceptability of analytical measurements when used in support or defence of legal or enforcement actions in England and Wales.
To gather information on current issues, meetings have been held with a number of collaborative organisations, both cross-sectoral and sector-specific, representing providers and users of analytical measurements in the legal arena. These meetings have highlighted a number of issues, some relating specifically to the use of analytical measurements in legal proceedings and how these impact on analytical measurement scientists,  and some which have a broader relevance to the requirements of the legal process.
