Qualitative Analysis: A Guide to Best Practice. Forensic Science Extension
This document should be read in conjunction with its parent document Qualitative Analysis: A Guide to Best Practice (ISBN 0 85404 462 0, Royal Society of Chemistry, Cambridge, 1998). The Guide presents a set of generic principles covering best practice in qualitative analysis. It was developed under the Department of Trade and Industrys Valid Analytical Measurement Programme (VAM) which itself promotes a number of principles of good practice in analytical science. This extension to the Guide addresses issues specific to forensic science. It draws upon the experience of practioners in the field, listed at Table 1, and is intended to assist analysts new to this area. It follows the same conventions used in the Guide viz. principles are grouped into numbered sections with each principle being stated separately in italics followed by some explanatory text.
