This report considers the sources of uncertainty arising from various processes used in sample preparation from the taking of a test portion from a sample, through to the point where some form of analytical operation is performed. This includes a vast number of processes and this report has of necessity been selective. It concentrates on the following processes: - Derivatization - Digestion - Distillation - Dissolution - Extraction
