Traceability in chemical testing - meeting accreditation requirements
| Event Type: | Training Course | | Location: | Teddington | | Date: | 18/04/2007 | | Duration: | 1 day | | Cost: | 425 + VAT |
Reliable measurements depend on competent staff, validated methods and equipment, comprehensive quality systems and traceability to appropriate measurement standards. Laboratory accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 is a demonstration that these requirements have been met. Establishing traceability is a new requirement of accreditation and recent European directives. To achieve comparability of results over time or from one location to another, it is essential to link all the results to some common, stable reference or measurement standard. The results can be compared through their relationship to that reference. Traceability is the process of linking results to a reference. Traceability is required for results obtained from all types of methods: standard, in-house and those where the result is defined by the method (empirical method).
What are the benefits?
This course will help you:

Select appropriate materials and plan how to use them
Develop procedures to ensure traceability
Contents
The course will cover:
An introduction to traceability
Traceability to reference materials and measurement standards
Types of reference materials
How to achieve traceability for results obtained from empirical methods.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for laboratory staff who have responsibility for the quality of measurement results, e.g. potential or existing laboratory managers, quality managers etc.
