This training pack for laboratory techniques consists of a Guide to Improving Analytical Quality in Chemistry and a CD-ROM: Basic Laboratory Skills. The Guide introduces the principles of good laboratory practice in the context of basic laboratory skills. The basic techniques covered include performing a titration, using a spectrophotometer, and calculating and reporting an analytical result. The CD-ROM provides clear step by step practical instructions with extensive use of real examples of best practice for weighing, use of pipettes and burettes, and performing titrations. The material is aimed at post 16 students, laboratory technicians and first year undergraduates and has been developed in conjunction with a number of teachers and practitioners of analytical chemistry.
