Public concern about the air and land and the extent to which it is polluted continues to grow. The inhabitants of most (if not all) cities in the industrialised are being increasingly subjected to atmospheres containing toxic gases and particulate matter containing heavy metals. The pressure to utilise disused industrial or brown field sites for new developments including housing, requires that developers must ensure that the land is free from contamination before work can commence.
Reliable analytical measurements in the analysis of air and land are essential. It is the VAM programme that underpins their accuracy.
