PT Competitions
To redress some of the adverse comments about the decline in practical work done in schools and the lowering of the standard, LGC and Nuffield Curriculum Centre have organised a chemistry proficiency testing competition for Year 12/13 students. Students are required to determine the concentration of a solution of ethanoic acid. Participants receive a certificate and a prize is awarded to the winning centre.
This competition is meant to be fun as well as establishing that there is good work being done.
In 2002 and 2003 a measuring competition for AS/A2 (or equivalent) biology students was organised in a collaboration between LGC, Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology and Edexcel.
